CSXT Q360 stacked 'em up in Fountaintown IN.  This is on the Indianapolis Sub, former B&O between Indianapolis IN and Hamilton OH/Cincinnati OH, route of Amtrak's Cardinal.  Based on the amount of damage shown, I would expect tonight's Amtrak 50, Cardinal, will be annulled or otherwise trunkated as no easy detour exists.  Only real optinons would be Indianapolis Line (ex Conrail) to Sydney and onto Redgeway to turn train, then back to Sydney and down B&O to Cincinnati, or down LIRC to Seymour IN, then run backwards on the Indiana Sub to Cincinnati.  Only other direct route would be the ex NYC which is CSXT as far as Shelbyville, then G&W's CIND onto Cincinnati, but unfortunatly, CIND is out of service between Shelbyville and the Honda Plant in Greensburg, with about 1/4 mile or so of track physically removed.

They could detour the Cardinal as they have in the past. CSX B line from Indy to Muncie New Three Connection. NS New Castle district to CSX at Hamilton.

Per Amtrak Twitter, stub train to run Chicago-Indianapolis. Regular Cardinal equipment to run Chicago-NYP with the Lake Shore to balance it back to Sunnyside. No mention of alternative transportation for passengers ticketed to intermediate points east of Indianapolis on No. 50.

I wouldn’t look for any detours.

That explains the CAT sidewinders loaded on Hulcher trucks heading southbound on US 52 south of Lafayette, IN around noon today.

HULCHER must be having a fantastic year with all the rerailing clean up jobs that are happening. 

Any update on opening the line today?
