Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS H44 w/Antique PowerDate: 09/06/21 16:20 NS H44 w/Antique Power Author: globalethanol It doesn`t happen often anymore, but last night I heard H44 (Allentown-Abrams turn) head west through
Emmaus with the sound of EMD 645`s and a Leslie RS3L horn. After seeing the 19G earlier with half of H44`s regular power (SD60E`s) heading to Enola DIT, I figured on a good chance of 40-2`s again tonight. I got trackside early and no sooner heard 44 call a "clear" at CP. Burn. Power was NS 3364 ex Conrail 6418 and NS 3337 ex Conrail 6367 steppin` on the gas and sounding great at Emmaus, Pa. (MP.29 Reading Line). Happy Fanning, twl You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! seeing them. Yikes! twl Date: 09/06/21 16:56 Re: NS H44 w/Antique Power Author: perklocal Just Fabulous Tom ! We definitely grew up with these SD40-2s and it is amazing that they are still able to make a few cameo appearances and strut their stuff out on the Main. The earliest ex-Conrail SD40-2s are headed for their 45th Birthday. Great catch pal. I told you that you're not done yet !

I saw my first CR SD40-2 in 1978--around age 10 in Detroit, but a boy without a camera! Good to see 'em still pulling along...

While I’m a few (17) years younger than you I grew up with Conrail SD40-2’s pulling hard on the Reading Line. That horn takes me back for sure!! Dan Posted from iPhone Date: 09/06/21 21:57 Re: NS H44 w/Antique Power Author: OHRY You're welcome.

I'll hear it often from work when DREI's train comes into Terre Haute to interchange with CSX in the old Conrail Duane Yard. I remember when I used to get tired of all the Conrail Leslie horns, but now the DREI's horn sounds like a dinosaur calling!
