A quick look at trains on the Former Nickel Plate today.

1. Linkages in steel; Train 15M connects Buffalo, NY with the Steel City, Pittsburgh, PA and is seen here amongst the aroma of grape filled air and breezes off Lake Erie as it hustles with some degree of dispatch westbound at Westfield, NY. Horsepower is provided by NS 9668, 9541 and 9489.


2. Coming east like a blaze of glory, Train 22K interrupts the afternoon solitude at Westfield, NY with NS 1188 and 9854 in tandem harness heading for Buffalo, Binghamton, Mechanicville, Hoosac Tunnel and eventually Ayer, MA on the old Fitchburg (B&M Railroad).

3. Further west at the former Citadel of Steam in Conneaut, Ohio several locomotives are taking in the sabbath. Included here are NS 3025 (GP 40-2 ex Conrail 3332 built May 1978), NS 6341 SD40E former Conrail SD50 6727 built December 1983 and NS 3324 an SD40-2 built for Southern Railway in May 1979. Visible also is Caboose 555516.

4. While at Conneaut the 14M arrived, counterpart to the 15M we lensed earlier in the day lead by NS 4092. The Conductor has dropped off to do some work.
