Some Action on the Lake Shore & Michigan Today - Lake Erie Land
Author: train1275

Checking out some action on a road trip today (October 10, 2021) to Western New York.
CSX Chicago Line - former Lake Shore & Michigan Southern, NYC, PC, Conrail.

1. CSX 3010 slugs east with what appeared to be mostly mty C&D cars as it approaches Gale Street crossing in Westfield NY, 58 miles west of Buffalo. There is a nice little rail fan park here for train watching on the CSX line shown here and the parallel NS, former Nickel Plate. This guy has a mid-train DPU.

2. Taking advantage of the clouds covering the sun and working on the dark side of the train, this shot shows CSX 3397 and 3121 on auto rack Train 204 eastbound.

3. UP 5582 leads an eastbound Ethanol with NS 7673 making a pleasing sight.

4. CSX 3326 and 3279 come west with a vengeance hauling Train Q017

5. And almost back home, some 158 miles west of Westfield, NY we are still along the former LS&MS west of Cleveland at Lorain, OH as Train 294 is about to cruise over Baumhart Road with NS 9570 and 1044. West of Cleveland the NS got the former Conrail New York Central LS&MS line and CSX the former Big Four. The NKP line is several miles north of here along Lake Erie.

Interesting images and narrative—thanks for the look. I have seen the train in your first shot but can not figure out what the high side hoppers carry and where they are emptied, can you fill-in the blanks please?
TIA
