Snowy Sunday in Meridian
Author: tuxedorailfan

January 16th, 2022

We got some snow this morning, and it just so happened that I was off this morning so I took advantage of it.

Image 1: NS train 131 glding down the small grade into Meridian with Engineer John Belcher from the Moving America Podcast at the throttle.
Image 2: NS train 314 leaving Meridian after a fresh AGS crew. Seen navigating the 27th Avenue Crossovers.
Image 3: NS train 131 again coming through the diamond after 314 cleared with a fresh NO&NE crew to take the train south to New Orleans.

Enjoy!

I really like that first shot with 4371 and the blowing snow, Dylan.  Glad you were able to capture some snow.  Not much of anything in Chattanooga, unless you're up on one of the mountains.

Thanks Mike.

Plan on going to the Mountains for my yearly vacation next month. Usually get a cabin in Gatlinburg to disappear for a few days to reboot from the world.

The whole set is nice! Salt trucks were out around Cincinnati all day today. I went out but came home after one train after I realized I left my wallet at home when I took my work ID out after work. It started snowing after that. So does the state of Alabama even have road salt or trucks to spread it?

Jim, I'm not sure. I know this part of MS and Alabama doesn't. I say that because I saw the City of Meridian (MS) out putting salt on one of the bridges this morning. Had an F250 with some poor sap in the bed with a rake and shovel "Spreading the salt." I don't believe it was very effective.

You can feel the cold wind in the first shot. I like it a lot.
