SD is special duty, denoting a C-C wheel arrangement... 60 is the locomotive model line, with a 3800-horsepower 16-710G3 engine... E stands for "Excrement that replaced the F units"... Date: 04/30/22 14:53 Re: "Executive" SD60Es NS Altoona Author: ns1000 Bunny218 Wrote:

They have an aggressive stall protection feature, so DON'T stop on a hill with a heavy train. The 60Es have had a history of electrical problems. The luggage rack is on the inside of the outer uninsulated nose section. The electro-pneumatic valves emit a LOUD psssshht on a regular basis on the inside of the inner door. And yes, they are LOUD??!!??!! Some of us have some other "proper names" for them..... Posted from Android Date: 04/30/22 19:14 Re: "Executive" SD60Es NS Altoona Author: Asheville_G Bunny218 Wrote:

But here we are again. Yes, the are for the executive train. Geared for 79 mph. Too high gearing for freight use. Date: 05/01/22 08:56 Re: "Executive" SD60Es NS Altoona Author: Lackawanna484 How does BNSF handle its executive train?
Do CSX KCS both have dedicated power for their OCS trains? Posted from Android Date: 05/01/22 10:31 Re: "Executive" SD60Es NS Altoona Author: CR6377 Yeah, CSX has the ex Amtrak F40PHs in the B&O paint scheme. It's pretty sad when CSX actually does better than NS.
