Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS / CSXT Locomotive ShopsDate: 05/15/22 04:18 NS / CSXT Locomotive Shops Author: PRR_4859 Good Morning:
Where do CSXT and NS still have shops on their systems that can perform repairs beyond normal servicing? I know NS has Juniata Shop in Altoona, PA for heavy repair and CSXT has one in Huntington, WV for the same purpose. Although I may be incorrect, I think CSXT can also do heavy repairs in Waycross, GA. Where else are there shops that can do repairs beyond normal servicing? Thank you in advance. Ouch....I'm drawing a blank....well I look at it this way....on CSX we might have only Wayx and Huntington at present...but if we put stored engines back into service we're screwed. Sure you could reactivate Cumberland, but could you get anybody to come to work??? Same for NS....you could reopen Roanoke East End...but where ya gonna get people? NS Birmingham does maintenances, wheel changes, turbos, power assemblies, blowers and the like such. NS Chattanooga the same as well up to main alternator change out. Normal servicing meaning adding oil, water, changing brake shoes, etc. A better term may have been service tracks.
