A very nicely done and informative issue! Appreciated ... Odyssey Evergreen, CO Date: 05/17/22 08:05 Re: R&N magazine link about the Fracking trains. Author: aehouse The Reading and Northern simply does everything well. It's a huge, customer-oriented commercial success, and a rolling museum preserving the best practices of railroading.

Author: Darthsimpletext I just read in the article that there's a huge demand in export coal, there could be several NS 520s and possible extras running the lower harrisburg line, imagine how crazy coal traffic was when we had all those coal trains to new jersey and eddystone?
this backs it up from their magazine: "=15pxExport coal will likely TRIPLE. We already have orders for an =15pxadditional 3000 carloads via the Port of Fairless Hills from our =15pxexisting customers. That is on top of last years 1750 carloads. =15pxBased on incoming requests for rates, that number could grow =15pxanother 1,000-2,000 carloads! And these customers are all =15pxlooking to make multi-year commitments for even greater =15pxvolumes." nick Date: 05/17/22 13:21 Re: R&N magazine link about the Fracking trains. FYI, North Shore's Lycoming Valley Railroad unit has had a similar transload for Fracking sand for several years adjacent to their yard at Avis PA, on the former NYC shops complex grounds. They are handling similar amounts of sand, destined for the drilling fields further west, in the Wellsboro/Galeton area. Drill baby, drill! Lots of that PA gas flowing in a 24" pipeline to shiny new power plants at Towanda, Montgomery, Shamokin Dam, and York Haven.

From everything I've seen, RBMN is a top-notch operation for freight customers, passengers, railfans and employees. All good things to all the stakeholders.
