On this date in 1970 was the last Huntley-Brinkley Report for those who watched NBC.
On that evening Chet Huntley signed off and retired.

On this date in 1971 was the first use of the Lunar Roving Vehicle on the moon.



Made a brief circle trip to Huron, then down to the NKP and back home. Finally met TO Member zars in person while at Huron.

1. NS 1116 and 8030 roar east with Train 20T.

2. NS 1812 and 1041 follow shortly after with Train 20E hot behind.

3. The new Terminal Redi-Mix logo on the old Huron Cement facility.

4. Another eastbound, the 24M is caught at River Road crossing the Huron River bridge with NS 4434 and 1123.

5.- 6. On the NKP there was a train parked at Mason (West Shinrock) and right behind him coming west was this guy, a 45M with NS 9565 and 1023 ducking under US Route 2 approaching Florence just west of Vermilion. This is mty grain out of DelMarva.

7. The nice surprise on the 45M was this ex Milwaukee hopper, now MWCX 462043. Wasn't expecting this !!
That rusted plaque on the side of the car used to read "America's Resourceful Railroad". Alas, no more.

and, George Jetson (husband of Jane, father of son Elroy and daughter Judy) was born on this date in 2022!  So, we have roughly forty years before we have flying cars and live in cities on stilts.
