The assigned power for ACWR Train 200, the Candor NC to Aberdeen NC turn, for the past week or so has been is a duo of SD60F's, numbers 5520 and 5521,  sandwiching SD40-2 number 6618.  Here we catch the trio making light work of just a scant 11 empties headed for CSXT in Aberdeen at 2pm, Wednesday Sept 7, 2022, in Pinehurst NC.  Video is shot from my home office window,  On my youtube channel "Past The Office Window" there is a video from out in the yard of the same trio passing on Friday with a much longer (and more normal) 72 car general freight.  You'll notice the the set of power has been spun somewhere (Aberdeen or Starr) since Friday.   

Train 200 operates 3-5 days a week, depending on traffic, and makes interchange with CSXT in the small yard in Aberdeen.  CSXT services the yard with Hamlet/Raleigh pair L619/L620, or with an as needed Y series yard job out of Hamlet, depending on volume of traffic. Multiple unit grain trains also operate over this route.

Is there a reasonable chance of those cowls getting a turn soon in the ACWR paint shop?
 

There sure are plenty of them parked at Star when I was through there in June.

Yep - they have a total of 15 of them - 5520, 5521, 5526, 5527, 5530, 5531, 5534, 5536, 5539, 5545, 5548, 5549, 5558, 5559, 5560.   20 and 21 are the only two in service.  They have 9 SD40-2 in serivce as well - those 11 handle all the freight business. . No idea if the SD60Fs or the only unpainted SD40-2 will ever see paint - booth is busy with the growing collection of E units right now.
