Here is a decent piece from the Fox Tampa Bay affiliate on the damage SGLR's infrastructure has sustained from Ian:

All anyone can say is that this is very sad and hopefully the Federal Railroad Administration will give them some immediate help to rebuild the line ASAP.

I am curious as to the condition of those bridges prior to the hurricane.   Had they been made more hurricane resistant?   In some of the video even the piles have been washed away.

Thanks for the links. As I suspected it was the Caloosahatchee River trestles at Tice that took the brunt of the storm surge. The Arcadia flooding was probably more of a surprise and appears to have damaged both track and rolling stock. I have to wonder if they ran those units north to keep clear of the storm surge/eye wall winds but then the Peace overflowed. I'm sure CSX, the Seminole Gulf's connection at Arcadia to the national network, also has substantial damage. I truly hope their employees living in the Ft Myers area can recover and rebuild their personal life as well, it's going to be a challenging time.

Who/what is ACE? Google returns inconclusive results.

Does anyone have an estimated annual carload number for this shortline?

They do a pretty good business in Fort Myers, but over the years they've gone from running to Arcadia daily to three times a week. They used to make Arcadia and back in one day, but now I think it's one day up and one day back. Hard to find good info on them.
