Mid-Thirties with sun and shadows

1. Train 260 works eastbound at Coen Road west of Vermilion, OH with NS 9630 and 4049.

2. & 3. Train 28B, the old 206, with Union Pacific power (UP 6284 and 7907) comes across the Huron River bridge and heads for River Road crossing. There was a false activation here earlier in the morning and trains were running under restriction at this time.

4. & 5. Train 23G with NS 8132 wearing black numberboards leads NS 9612 and 3625 west crossing the W&LE approaching Huron, OH.

6. A dimension train, NS 054 is eastbound at River Road, Huron with NS 7644.

7. Here is the dimensional load, whatever it is ... plastic coil tubes ?

8. As he goes east we now see the signal maintainer who has arrived to check the crossing out.

9. Not long after the passing of the 054, the 35N comes blasting by with a vengeance, NS 1827 leading.

10.  The Mid-Train DPU, NS 7715.

11. Headed east to Vermilion we catch Train 22X at the docks with NS 4218, 7660 and 4119.

12. Following him was the 28M with NS 4387 and 7577. The Vermilion River has a slight bit of icing and we also get a distorted reflection this afternoon.

13. Intel was out that Train 315 was coming west on the Nickel Plate, so we went down to the docks. While waiting, the 28V Baltimore bound intermodals, came by overhead on the Chicago Line. Power ws NS 1042 and 8168.

14. Our old friend the L15 returns from Maple Heights with the usual power; NS 4077 and 4053.

15. Finally the 315 shows on the Nickel Plate side. It sure is nice to see these rails getting polished again after the brief hiatus of traffic at the end of last year. 315 has NS 4499 and 9938 as power. He is heading home to Bellevue, but will have a meet with counterpart 316 at Shinrock about ten miles ahead.

16. Knowing that Train 316 was out, it became a question of where to shoot him. With the sun setting, and a train coming out of the west, it made for a difficult situation.  This was the best I could do, Beaver Park Marina west of Lorain. UP 6554 and 6784 are the power.

17. The sun sets as the tonnage of the 316 rolls east along the lakeside marina.
