The GPS told him to turn right ....... into the 7-11.  Ashton Ave. Manassas, VA on the NS B-LIne.  The cable from the tow truck is visible to the left of the car.

It's unbelievable the number of drivers who do not see where they are going and pay only attention to those GPS's. It has happened too many times.

Plus he is a ways down the line.
It's not like the road bed is right there.
Was he thinking to himself "Man this road sure is bumpy"
 

Been there, done that when I was young and foolish (now I am just foolish) in Fairview PA (1976) driving along side the tracks late one night, drove up over a berm, got totally stuck. the first Conrail train slowed to see what was going on, the rest zoomed by at full speed, box cars rocking and rolling. Come AM I got a call from the police wanting to know why my car was stuck by the tracks, had to meet a tow truck operator to get the car back on solid ground. Yikes.

Happened way before GPS as I pulled several over the years off of the tracks because they turned down them nothing new here.

When they passed out brains they thought they said "pains", don't give me  any...........

Working a local out of Selma, Al on CSXT (L&N). Had to cut the engine off and go pull a car back to a crossing. Unsafe for the tow truck to reach them safely.

Working at C&A Tower (GM&O/IHB-B&OCT Summit IL) I watched a guy slide off the gravel road up into the ballast and the GM&O local chain him up and pull him out.

He was my relief.

He was also not very good at other important things and did not last long on the railroad.
