A slight dust of early snow in North Central Ohio and a Good Day for a Drive About.

1. Coen Road is just west of Vermilion, OH, and it is here we catch the L15 local about mid-morning. He had NS 4053 and 4077 for several months, then the 4077 disapppeared, and then the 4053 disappeared.  This morning all he had was the NS 1840 returning from Maple Heights. Normally he would be going east in the morning, so I don't know what happened that he is just going west now.

2. It is not common to be able to grab shots of the same train at more than one location here on the Chicago Line, but due to slow orders we get the L15 again at Joppa Road heading towards Huron.

3. After the L15 passed the 260 intermodal slowly comes east with NS 4611 and 8081. The 4611 was turned out of Wabtec - Fort Worth in November 2022 and still looks fresh from the shop.

4. Another view of Train 260 rounding the curve approaching Joppa Road between Huron and Vermilion, OH.

5. Just down Joppa Road from the Chicago Line is the Nickel Plate crossing. This location was known as Ashmont years ago, and the NKP had a depot here. Today we catch the 11Q, a b-i-g 11Q, here at Ashmont with NS 7504, 9603 and 1055 on the headend, and NS 4125 and 9747 as mid-train DPU's. On the NKP Line this location is between Vermilion and Shinrock.

6. And for the 2nd time today we get another shot of the same train down the line as the 11Q has pulled up to Route 99 to wait to get into Bellevue Yard.

7. The B45 local which does a Bellevue to Toledo turn is coming off the old Wheeling Toledo line and heading for Bellevue Yard with NS 1850 and 8053.

8. NS 7625 and UP 8679 on Train 117 are sitting at Shriver (Flat Rock) waiting their turn to get into Bellevue Yard off the old PRR Sandusky District line from Columbus. 

9. Checking up on the former NKP Fort Wayne line we find the 18M, and he is waiting for a recrew, and also to get through Bellevue. I think the 18M is an Elkhart - Crewe, VA train but not really sure. How does he get to the Fort Wayne line ? Power is NS 3607, 4032 and 3645.

10. Train 66E with crude oil loads rumbles past the St. Mary's Cemetery in Sandusky, OH on the Chicago Line, eastbound with NS 4528, BNSF 6026 and BNSF 7040.

And that ends our Drive-About today.
