NS has contracted with Mascaro Construction to replace the 1940-built ex-NKP Conneaut Creek trestle. Based on the link to the attached photo from Akron RR club, the replacement bridge piers are directly under the old bridge girders so the trestle is being built exactly where the original trestle is. Conneaut Creek Trestle replacement picture

Steel erecting should be starting in April per the Mascaro timeline. The timeline says "During Norfolk Southern Railway outages – anticipated as 24-hour continuous work, 2 shifts. Weekly Outages once per week maximum, forecasted to start Sunday or Monday, subject to NS traffic schedule" I wonder how Mascaro will execute the girder replacement with the old bridge still standing and in use?

Looks like they've scheduled a 24-hour work window once a week for 13 weeks to install the steel. Guessing there are 13 spans? Apparently they'll replace one span a week for 13 weeks and then demolish the old trestle bents.

If it is done like so many other  railroad bridge replacements have been done, the new bridge will be wider
and the old bridge floor removed in one operation, the floor for the new bridge installed with expansion joints
and attached to the to the new bridge foundation and girders.

I'd think the new bridge will be a ballasted deck design, also.
