Eastern Railroad Discussion > Hudson / Coxsackie NY

I know Hudson primary sees Amtrak only but I believe it has a few freights , I would be their on Saturday , is Hudson worth it ?

How many trains go though Coxsackie ,NY in a 12 hour period on the weekend ?

Also last if I was to go up to Rutland VT would I see the shortline operate on a weekend?

I've never railfanned in Coxackie but other's can tell you. What I will say is that the CSX River Sub which passes through there does get busy.

I've been to Hudson many times. You will see mainly Amtrak trains but CSX runs a local there. You can get nice morning pictures of Amtrak trains arriving and departing Hudson Station from the east side of the grade crossing, located just south of the station. In the afternoon, pictures of southbounds on the other side of the grade crossing, closest to the river are ideal.

About 25 trains (+/- a few) in a 24 hour period in Coxsackie
