Sunny, about 50 degrees and nice, but the air seemed to have some strange brownish tint to it.
Spent a lot of time and miles driving around today and didn't bag much in the end.

1. Sperry SRS 855 is running west on the old Nickel Plate at Risden Road west of Vermilion.

2. Stopping up at Old Woman Creek estuary to spot for eagles, all we see are remains of the annual shad die off.

3. Finally getting to Sandusky for the first boat shot of the year, here is the 3rd boat in this season loading coal from the NS ( ex-PRR) docks, the "Florence Spirit".

4. Back to the NS Chicago Line and nothing ......  so down the PRR towards Bellevue ... and nothing. So back to the NKP at East Avery and the SRS 855 is just showing up. Looks like he has the railroad for a while, so no point in sticking around here, but he makes a nice shot with the old tile silo in the background.

5. Up to the Chicago Line again and the 269 intermodal is coming west on the journey between the Port of Newark, NJ to Landers Yard, Chicago. Landers was a Wabash facility way back in the day. As he approached us here at Ceylon, OH the sun decided to have a full blown eclipse so the only salvageable shot was this early approach image. Power is NS 3651 and BNSF 4644.

6. To the docks at Vermilion and a catch ... finally after 5 hours out there of 12N eastbound. Several other trains seen did not yield images worth saving due to lighting issues. It certainly was a tough and frustrating day. Power on the 12N was NS 4606 and 4075.

Time to go home.
