I’m not 100% but I believe it is out east of where the C&F crosses PA 309 near the Alpo plant. I could be wrong.

Thanks. Seems right based on topography near tracks.

It’s where the rr crosses Quarry Rd, Rt 109 and Spring Creek Road between Trexlertown and Alburtis

Thanks Doug!

I have seen at least once a high and wide lid being transferred from train to truck there, since the bypass for 100 was built.

Seems logical. The location east of 309 near Alpo is Chapman's although I don't find Merkle on any historic map. I have a 1929 steam railroad map somewhere around her and I'd bet "Merkle" is on it.

First shot of WPCH-11 heading for Chapman Yard crossing Rte.100 at what was known as Merkle on 4/29/95. Second shot of WJAL-08 @ 100 yards further up the line crossing Spring Creek back on 1/27/87. This is at MP 12.5 on the C&F Secondary. MP 0 was at Catasauqua and MP 14 is at Alburtis,PA.

Neat photos! It’s amazing how much that area changed over the past 20 years with the construction of the 100/222 bypass.
