Seminole Gulf Update
Author: bmarti7

With the Peace River bridge, north of Arcadia, repaired as well as the washouts along the Peace River, freight operations have resumed down to North Ft. Myers. They are operating a trans load there however I couldn't get close as both sides of the ROW are private property owned by Raymond Building Supply. Between their buildings I spotted a freshly painted locomotive No 598. I couldn't find any information on this unit. It looked like there were about a dozen freight cars parked there on the mainline.
on the way back to Port Charlotte I noticed several of the crossing gates have been replaced while other crossings have not requiring those to be flagged.

I also saw this billboard, promoting freight, along US 41 just north of Tucker's Grade. Prior to the hurricane this billboard advertised the Murder Mystery Dinner Train. Nothing more for now but it's at least something.

Bill - SGLR 598 should be ex-CSXT 5979, exx-NS 4817, nee-CR 5089 (45653, 5/88).
