East Penn Railroad Heads North Along the Brandywine
Author: eastpenn23

Caught East Penn Railroad 2173 and 2800 running north on the Wilmington & Northern line this morning. Great weather for a peaceful chase in the rolling hills of Chester County.

1 - Arriving at Pocopson Yard from Kennett Square
2 - After switching Pocopson, the train heads for Coatesville, passing Wawaset Road
3 - Northbrook

4 - Along Harvey's Bridge
5 - Some boxcar relics at Embreeville, used for farm storage

I then ditched ESPN for another great chase of Reading and Northern's NRFF.

I recall stumbling into Northbrook returning from a family vacation in, I believe Ocean City, Maryland when my sons were little tykes. There was a tourist train about to depart. We were standing there and the Conductor asked if we wanted to ride. It was already late in our day, and needed to find dinner, we declined figuring we could return another time. I distinctly remember a Alco making a smoky departure. This was back when they ran the Northbrook Canoe Train. I think the next year they were no longer running. Another opportunity lost!
Thanks for a post of an area I haven't been to for some time now, maybe 25 years?

Yep that lines up! The Brandywine Scenic ran tourist trains in the 90s. I've campaigned for the Wilmington & Western RR to return, but no tourist train has been on these rails since those days.
