Nice day, but nothing much went right. Poor decisions, wrong focal length, poor exposure, bad timing and missed more trains than we shot.
Tough time getting the trains in front of the lens, tough time shooting them, tough time downloading them, struggle to photoshop the poor results.
But here is what is left.

1.  Starting the day at the Vermilion Rail Park; Vermilion, OH.

2.& 3. Train 94X the GREX Conveyor Ballast Train comes by with NS 3620 providing the power.

4. Then down to the dccks for a change of perspective. Train 268 with NS 4099 and 1140.

5. A Lyman boat comes up the river; "Class of '54".

6. Then 27P comes by overhead with NS 7657, 8146 and 9741.

7. 22X is next with NS 4535, 3624 and 4291.

8. After lunch is 13N with NS 4166 leading solo and CN 3193 as a mid train DPU.

9. LINX 7197 reefer "Oatmeal" on the 13N.

10. Mid train DPU CN 3193 adds some color.

11. CIC 6212 boxcar on the 13N. Any idea what the hatch door is, or whatever it is ??

12. 28M comes by the Lake Erie Adventure Co as it crosses the Huron River. Power is NS 1210 and 9799.

13. 28M goes east, crossing the W&LE bridge with ABF and UPS pups on the head end.

14. & 15. Thinking it was the two unit L15 coming west at River Road in Huron, but NO ! ... it was a four unit loaded coal train with NS 4609, 8171, 9717 and ... AND BNSF warbonnet 746 on Train 686.

16. The BNSF 746, trailing unit on Train 686, loaded coal westbound.

17. Back to Vermilion and more coal is going west, this time in Train 780 with NS 4376 and UP 7526 up front.

18. NS 1224 the rear DPU on Train 780 is sucking in lots of coal dust into the air intake filters, much to the consternation of the mechanical department no doubt.

19. Then the 12N comes east with NS 3674 passing an American flag as it enters Vermilion.

20. in the consist we see another of the LINX reefers; LINX 6848 "Brooklyn". 

21. Like I mentioned, it was a tough day and I kind of missed this really nice looking ex ROCK hopper; now MWCX 462650 which later went to the C&NW.

23. A Winchester & Western sand hopper; WWUX 4361. Kind of a classy looking car.

24. And to close out the day trackside is the rear DPU on the 12N; NS 7607.

Coming home we looked out on Lake Erie and and saw a "ghost brig" which turned out to be the sailing vessel Niagara out of Erie, PA.

Excellent post with boats and trains.  Thanks for sharing your day along Lake Erie.

Despite all, you came away with some descent material. Thanks for the look. Especially like the coal train with the UP.
