It's obvious that the senators have no idea of the fallout from those laws.

Two major problems came to mind while reading the Trains magazine email:

The required inspections at the state line will delay multiple trains awaiting inspections, add costs, and jam up yards that are already overloaded.

Requiring PTC on all trains is completely uneconomical and will result in everything but main lines being removed.

Hopefully most of them will never get passed or implemented.

Typical panic-inspired reactionist Democrat legislation. Will be interesting
to see if these new regulations, if enacted, can survive a court challenge.
As the article says, "...challenges over federal supremacy to regulate mattters
of interstate commerce." 
By the way, do these same regulations apply to trucks on public highways?

With no companion bills in the State Assembly they will go no place.   But sounds good for a sound bite to their constituents 

61 to 1 votes means most of these bills received at least 20 Republican votes

Make NO MISTAKE. Our government, both sides are doing what NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD COULD DO. They are systematically destroying our country from the inside.

That just goes to show that both parties have elected idiots.  

I doubt any legislator wants to be on the "wrong side" of a vote seen as a safety issue. Future TV ad

And what's better, letting the Class 1s continue to run rampant with their stupidity? They need to be reigned in. Their PSR, profit-obsessed BS has got to end.

Common to all governmental politics, passing a group of railroad 'safety' bills allows those who voted for it/them to say "I voted for the =safety= of my constituents!" or "I voted 'yes' to preserve our state and nation... Senator So-and-So voted against it!" It's strictly political showmanship and theator to win your vote.

Of course, every vote they support is a vote for your safety and that of all future generations, National Security, USA survival and critically important things that all citizens should think about and consider before they fill in the oval or pull the lever down.

And the sad thing is most of the State politicans know it will be struck down by federal law.  But at least they said they tried.   The only group to benefit will be the lawyers bringing it before the courts.

Nope, I was trying to make a low-key criticism of the hyper-partisan post to which I was responding.

There are a lot of a assumptions about the Republicans who voted for the legislation for which the article provides no evidence.  None of those making the assumptions provide any links to back up their statements or show any evidence that they communicated with the New York State Senators who voted for the bill.

Although there is evidence of that politicians will sometimes make voting decisions based on perceived attack advertisements from their political opponents, transportation issues are generally not one of the issues on which negative advertisements are based (except maybe gasoline prices) for state legislative and higher political campaigns.  A much, much greater transportation safety issue in terms of number of fatalities is deaths and severe injuries due to road crashes.  I have yet to see or read about a negative advertisement against a politician on this issue.

Yes, I understand you have a knee jerk reaction to defend the Dems.   That doesn't change my opinion that I posted.

If you bothered to read my following post, you'd see that I was implicitly defending the Republicans who voted for the legislation.  I have a higher regard for the politicians of both parties who voted for this legislation, than you who offers nothing other than to call politicians of both parties "idiotic."
