NS Enola Yard via Google Earth
Author: cinder

While researching an upcoming railfan trip, I discovered this GE picture taken by satellite on 9/29/22.  It captures a minor derailmrnt under the I-81 bridge at the north end of Enola Yard west of Harrisburg, PA.

The second picture captures the west end of the NS Rockville Bridge.  I seems to show a "Rockville Blvd.". going west off US 11-15.  Is it passable?  If so, does it offer a view of the railroad bridge?

Sometimes that Google earth satellite captures some awkward moments! Just ask the Air Force. One flew over Whiteman AFB immediately after a B-2 went off the runway.

Rockville Blvd is a new road under construction for new housing. I've had success parking at the base of the road for short periods of time. The shoulder is wide on the main road too if you want to use that.

There is not a clear view of the bridge from the road, but most local railfans park there for the shot I attached here. If you walk across Route 11/15 and snake through the woods behind the billboard, this view of trains coming off the bridge is available.

River Road bridge is another good spot nearby

Wow! I remember that incident.

That's worse than having your derailment recorded for posterity.

Talking about B-2's, I have heard that fewer people have piloted B-2's than have been astronauts.

A recent search on Google Earth shows the KCS business train in the yard at Baton Rouge. Lots of nice surprises.

First picture is showing a nice derailment in the yard near the overpass.

That was the stated reason for my post.  but what exactly do you mean by "nice derailment?"

It would seem providing aerial Air Force Base photos to the public would be a no, no.

It was taken from a Chinese "Spy Baloonj".
