During WWII Yogi, Phil Rizzuto and Bob Feller amongst others played games there while stationed nearby at the Naval Base. It is a really cool looking ballpark.

The Newport and Narragansett Bay RR operates a piece of the Newport Secondary with excursion trains and dinner trains ("Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience"). The N&NB is isolated to Aquidneck Island and the station is on America's Cup Avenue in Newport. The busy Amtrak/MBTA NE corridor runs through downtown Providence. The only freight activity there is the nocturnal Sunday - Thursday P&W RR Worcester - Davisville turn job that takes autos, lumber, LPG, plastics, and other commodities to the Seaview RR and brings out C&D. A daytime local often also runs through the Providence station to work the Port of Providence, and sometimes unit ethanol trains go to/from Motiva, the port's ethanol terminal, as well.
