Eastern Railroad Discussion > NapanneeDate: 04/15/24 14:39 Napannee Author: SpeederDriver We're motorhome people, presently at the Newmar plant in Napannee, IN, which adjoins the former B&O Chicago main line. We'll be here for several days awaiting service and repairs. In the meantime, this is a very busy line with lots of traffic, mostly intermodal with some manifest trains thrown in. It looks to be over 30 trains per day, with most of them rather on the short side. Kind of surprising in today's CSX tendency to run them as long as possible. BTW, the Amtrak signs are still on the old station downtown, in spite of the fact that it's been a long time since anything stopped here.

1. 5/26/85, an unused station and a single Main. 2. 7/3/98, when Amtrak 30 did stop and a second Main was under construction. Gerry |
