Eastern Railroad Discussion > Question for Seaboard Coast Line locomotive engineersDate: 04/21/24 11:08 Question for Seaboard Coast Line locomotive engineers Author: TBTCarl Good afternoon,
For those of you with experience with SCL GP16 locomotives, I have a question: when they were outfitted with strobes, I've heard they would operate when the horn was blown. Did they also have manual control? Thanks in advance, Carl in FL Date: 04/21/24 16:43 Re: Question for Seaboard Coast Line locomotive engineers Author: Frisco1971 I also have a question........
How good were the GP 16 in yard and road switching??????? Thanks Date: 04/21/24 18:46 Re: Question for Seaboard Coast Line locomotive engineers Author: Trainhand I don't remember the strobes, other than I didn't like them. I thought they did an ok job switching and on locals that weren't too heavy.

I observed plenty of GP16s in yard operations with the strobes flashing.

For flat switching, better than a U-boat, not as good as an RS3. mike woodruff north platte ne Date: 04/24/24 05:48 Re: Question for Seaboard Coast Line locomotive engineers Author: TBTCarl Thanks for commenting and for the cool memory!
