Eastern Railroad Discussion > The "what are the odds" trio came back todayDate: 04/24/24 16:45 The "what are the odds" trio came back today Author: EL833 ....but in a slightly different form. Today's M277 had the 4714/4713 SD70MAC pair with the 1973 as the mid train DPU. Tossed up a September, 1976 view to compare, 2 blues of course https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/t4c/1/16/1f642.png . All photos at Akron, Ohio. In the '76 photo B&O GP40s 4063 and 3752 had pushed a train up to JO and were drifting back to get their train. The paved path next to today's train was where the former Erie Lackawanna was.

Looking at today's railroads it is absolutely amazing what can be done when there is investment in infrastructure rather than the suicidal "Deferred Maintainance" that was so prevalent during the 1950s through the 1970s. That's a long time to just ignore the wear and tear, but it happened.
Thanks as always for the interesting posts from the Akron area. Gonut |
