Eastern Railroad Discussion > Keeping Tabs on Some NS Power This WeekDate: 04/26/24 15:40 Keeping Tabs on Some NS Power This Week Author: globalethanol I always try to add a small story when I post pictures on Trainorders.
My daughter and grandsons have gained much interest in railfanning and frequently come trackside with me. Especially when one of NS`s heritage units are enroute on the NS Reading Line. Since they are patiently waiting for the 1072 Illinois Terminal (Gloworm) we monitor it`s whereabouts daily. Last weekend I see that it`s on a 14N coming into Conway. I told them when it`s in Conway it can get on anything. Monday morning it`s eastbound at Altoona, Pa. reported to be on 18N to Allentown. Turns out that was a bad report and it`s actually on 36A from Conway to Baltimore. I rewound the VR Horseshoe cam and watched it come east trailing a FRESH out of the box C6M # 4807! I told them when it gets to Baltimore it could very easily get on 30A for Allentown on Wednesday and be leading. Sure enough Wednesday morning it`s reported on 30A in Harrisburg after a trip up the Port Road Branch. I told them it should be on the Reading Line mid to late afternoon. Here they come to see 30A with 1072 leading. We come within seconds of total cloud cover but we see the train with some sun. Thursday and Friday in the reply post twl Date: 04/26/24 15:43 Re: Keeping Tabs on Some NS Power This Week Author: refarkas Great photos and backstory.
Bob Date: 04/26/24 15:54 Re: Keeping Tabs on Some NS Power This Week Author: globalethanol I told them it`s too late for the power to get on 18G but it will
probaby go to Oak Island on Thursday`s 18G. Thursday afternoon it`s headed east to Jersey leading 18G. Then I told them it should come back west on something on Friday with 4807 leading. Friday morning 1072 is reported by Newark trailing 3 of 3 on 29G for Chicago with a WFRX leasor in the middle. I figured 4807 would be leading and they stuck the WFRX in the middle at Croxton since it couldn`t lead. 29G was reported by Phillipsburg at 10:26 am. After 19G and 21W go west at Emmaus, 29G comes next but no 4807. Then Harrisburg East tells 11N to follow 29G west from CP. Burn. Turns out that that 4807 was the solo power on 11N. Nice! So we`ll keep check on 1072 and see if comes back east from Chicago. End of a long story, BTW, get your WFRX 70MAC shots now. Word has it they`re soon gone from NS. twl Edited 1 time(s).
