Up to date railfan info on NE Ohio
Author: dadonatrain

I'm planning a short road trip in mid-May from Greenville, SC, to NE Ohio around Cleveland and Toledo, to railfan around Berea, Bellevue, Vickers, etc.  I plan a day at each of these three sites.  I'm doing homework online and I see lots of older posts here and elsewhere online, but so far not much of it is more recent than early 20-teen years (2011, etc.)

So can anyone give me some more current info, please, on Berea, Bellevue, Vickers, Wallbridge, etc.?  Are they still reasonably safe, for instance, as long as I'm sensible and don't trespass, (I am and I won't) etc?  Is traffic still pretty good (whatever "good" means?  Hint: where I live, 20 in a 24-hour day is "good"!)?   Are there smarter spots I should give more time to than these three, which so far are the only spots I have on my itinerary?

And finally, are there other good online sites I should check out that are more current than 10-15 years ago?

Thx.

With regard to Vickers, they've recently built two overpasses and eliminated two of the grade crossings on Wales Road that I've shot from in the past.  There are pedestrian walkways on the north side of each bridge, but the fence/screen may be an issue for you:

Going to the actual diamonds at Vickers does involve trespassing.

Any reason (other than "been there, done that") not to include Marion or Fostoria on your itinerary?

Thx for the update on Vickers.

And yes, for Fosty and Marion, been there done that. Deshler too. Great visit to all three last year.

Berea is a good choice as is the railfan platform at Bellevue!

I would try to allow for some time on the CSX Toledo Sub. A lot of B&O CPL signals are still up and in operation. Many are easy to get to.
