Down At The Docks - Lake Erie Land

1. Sam Laud was out in the back forty today with his two EMD 20-645's. Looks like he was headed for Marblehead.

2. & 3. Over on the NKP, the 316 comes east with NS 4078 up front and NS 4225 as a mid-train DPU. As usual, this is not a great spot to shoot mid afternoon due to the sun angle.

4. & 5. UP 4439, UP 9043 and UP 8083 as rear DPU on Tr 552 loaded coal. This is the consist and power that came east on April 30th mty on Train 553, and is at least the 2nd cycle in the last few weeks.

6. Train 258 out of Kansas City is eastbound with NS 1007 and 4692.

7. "Boat Dog" is at the bow as an outfitter boat works up river.

8. While we wait for an mty coal train off the NKP, an Osprey flies low overhead scanning the river for dinner.

9. And a few minutes later he does another flyover and appears he was successful.

10. & 11. Finally Train 741, mty coal comes off the NKP and through the connector at GC to the Lake Shore line with NS 4192 and 4389 up front and NS 4666 as a rear DPU.

And it looks like this will end our day.

Again, very nice photos, plus I love the dog in the boat, and the osprey overhead looking for a meal.

That's a LOT of power for a train of empties....
and flat, Ohio country...

But, there's the challenge of re-balancing power for
use on other, future west-bound traffic..once arriving with the empties...

I'm not a knowledgeable 'traffic-petterns' guy..

The Train 552 / 553 set just seems to be kept intact running betwen the mine and the power plant from what I can see.
The 740 / 741 set I don't know, maybe the same thing. Can't think I've ever caught a 740 / 741 before. If so, not recently.
