Eastern Railroad Discussion > MD: Consol Coal hopes to resume Baltimore exports <15 daysDate: 05/07/24 08:04 MD: Consol Coal hopes to resume Baltimore exports <15 days Author: Lackawanna484 Consol Coal expects to resume some exports of coal from its Baltimore terminal in the next few weeks. The export facility has been shut down due to the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse.
This should result in an increase in NS and CSX coal trains accessing the facility, and a reduction in trains diverted to Norfolk VA. Most of Consol's export coal is mined in the Bailey complex of southwest PA on the former Monongahela Railroad. I believe some export coal may be produced in the Itamann facility in northeastern West Virginia. (Confirmation of that would be appreciated.) Good news for coal miners, railroaders, and dock workers. |
