Changes coming to the Ohio Valley
Author: JUTower

Hi all,
East Ohio Valley Railway will be taking over a 14.5-mile portion of NS's River Line in eastern Ohio. EOVR is a subsidiary of Transtar, LLC (which also owns the Union Railroad and other former US Steel railroads).

EOVR is a relatively new subsidiary that purchased the rail line previously operated by Central Maine & Quebec and later Katahdin Rail Services, after several years' operation by Carload Express as their Ohio Terminal Railway.  Carload restored the line from near-abandonment in late 2012 in order to serve the industrial park in Omal, near Hannibal Ohio.

EOVR will operate from Omal to Bellaire, Ohio and utilize NS operating rights to reach Mingo Junction, in order to interchange with NS.

Thank you for the excellent information. Is Union RR #30 the only locomotive in use on this newly-acquired line or are there more? I wasn't sure if maybe something was retained from the previous operator.
