Wednesday May 8th in Lake Erie Land
Author: train1275

Wednesday May 8, 2024
Vermilion OH
Sunny - Temps in the Upper 70's

Another slow day, and seems to be quite a bit of MofW and Signal Dept. work going on.

1. A quick sojourn downtown this morning to get in a walk, and here comes the 29P with NS 9542 and 4738. This train is pretty predictable each morning, maybe because he originates at Buffalo, just 221 miles to the east.

2. & 3. Train 260 comes by going slow with NS 7623 and 4460. In the consist are KLLM containers.

4. Train 260 also handles Swift Intermodal containers

5. & 6. On the walk home was this 1936 Packard Super 8, worth checking out.

7. The 1936 Packard in downtown Vermilion. I wonder how this would work as a Hi-Rail.

8. While hiking home, the 27G intermodal blasted by with NS 4679 and 1000 up front and NS 9725 and 1076 as mid train DPU's on this Harrisburg, PA - Chicago train.

9. A kingbird perches on the railing at lake front in the back yard.

10. & 11.  After lunch the 316 comes east on the NKP at KM west of town with NS 8065 and 9827. We are getting to the time of year with high sun that is hard to work with and with an east / west railroad one direction is usually pretty good and the other is terrible, such as here right into the sun. Really sucks .....

12. 316 passes and a mother Killdeer is responding to her lost young one and getting reunited. Perhaps the train interupted their day and the chick got separated. All will be good now.

I don't think that 1936 Packard would make a great Hi-Rail. I'd be afraid of what angry Packard lovers would do to me for making the conversion!
I really like your mix of railroad scenes, animal life, etc.
