Eastern Railroad Discussion > Allentown and Auburn Mixed TrainDate: 05/11/24 07:48 Allentown and Auburn Mixed Train Author: dschlegel I stopped in at a Mennonite greenhouse to pick up some flowers for my mom this morning and lucked into the Allentown and Auburn's Mothers Day special.
What was a nice surprise was that they had their Northern Lights business car in the consist, AND two gons pulled from the foundry in Kutztown. Enjoy and Happy Mothers Day to all moms!! The stainless office car is the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR (CB&Q) "The Roundup", a heavyweight that was sheathed in stainless steel by the Q to match the Budd-built Zephyr equipment. Nice sounding Nathan M3 back up horn on private car. Regards, Jim Evans Date: 05/14/24 11:23 Re: Allentown and Auburn Mixed Train Author: jim6300loco CB&Q had it first. It was orginally built in the early 1900's. CB&W put the silver siding on it. It's forbiden to travel into Penn Station , NY. After CB&Q had it the CN used it as a business car and called it Northern Lights. It currently is privately owned and is on loan to the A&A.
