RJ Corman's Owego & Harford at Owego 8/28/24
Author: JPB

Three man RJ Corman crew is departing the Owego yard Wednesday afternoon 8/28/29 with light engines: ex-Con U23B in Lehigh Railway livery trailed by ex-B&O GP9 in contemporary colors. This ex-Lehigh Valley Auburn branch track is operated by RJ Corman but is owned by the Tioga County Industrial Development Agency.

The video was captured at the Rte 96 crossing a couple of miles north of Owego - wobbly track very reminiscent of the LV days in the '60s and '70s!

And speaking of the LV days, here are a few photos af the Owego area captured 55 years ago in 1969 or so/

LV 252 by the station is an historic gem.

The station building looks pretty good in the current era.

When you could see the track!  ;-)  Image 1 is the local going through my grandparents property in Newark Valley.

Image 2 is in the 90s when the Tioga Central served a LP tank farm north of Hartord.  I think the images was taken in Harford.

When I was born, my dad was the station agent in Owego.  He learned the telegraph while in the Army in WWII.

Track in the video doesn't look THAT bad, I've seen much worse in service. And no I don't mean in the 1970s.

Maybe running at just the right speed to get the harmonic rocking going?
