Eastern Railroad Discussion > Railroaders in Charlotte Labor Day ParadeDate: 09/01/24 09:21 Railroaders in Charlotte Labor Day Parade Author: Notch7 If you happen to be in the Charlotte NC area tommorrow, you are invited to come out to the 25th annual Charlotte Labor Day Parade in uptown Charlotte - rolling down Tryon Street at 11 am. This is a genuine Labor Day Parade - put on by Labor, honoring Labor, and held on the real Labor Day. On the point of our consist will be striking Commucations Workers of America members, followed by Acting US Secretary of Labor Jenny Su. Carrying the markers will be NS and CSX engineers and conductors from the BLET and SMART-TD. Inbetween there will be Labor unions, political candidates and elected officials, beauty queens, businesses, car clubs, bands, and civic groups, Come out for an "old-time parade - UNION MADE" The picture is some of the engineers and conductors in last years parade.

Date: 09/03/24 14:31 Re: Railroaders in Charlotte Labor Day Parade Author: Notch7 Active and retired members and family of the BLET, SMART-TD, TWUA, and Transportation Communications Union marched or rode in Monday's annual Charlotte Labor Day Parade. In the pics below you will see the striking Communications Workers of America leading the parade. The banner was made and provided an former TO member and ex-railroader / railfan. Pictured with the CWA , helping hold the banner is Acting US Secretary of Labor Julie Su (in green blazer). The BLET four vehicle contingent is shown, including a converted Pymouth Superbird. Over 50 classic, restored, and unique cars from car clubs and individuals were iin the parade - plus the new Freightliner cab honoring black Marines , built and driven by local United Auto Worker members.
