NS 27A crossing the Potomac
Author: B-LineRailfan

A populat spot, but I believe this was my first time shooting a train here along the ex-N&W Shenandoah Valley Line at the scenic Rumsey Monument overlooking the Potomac River.  While waiting for a train, I kept myself occupied killing the invasive spotted latternflies which were everywhere.  Here is NS train 27A crossing the Potomac River from Maryland into Shepherdstown, West Virginia.  Of note, there are a couple special Hub Group containers near the front end (the light blue cause container for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is atop the 50th anniversary Hub Group container which is partially obscured by the well).

Nice video, Steve.

The last time I visited the Rumsey Monument, I kept myself busy between trains by trying to avoid a contact high--it's a popular spot for more than rail photography.

Nice picture & video. At first glance I thought it was the NS High Bridge near Wilmore, KY.

Thanks for the kind words. Regarding the Maryjane, I’m not surprised but I didn’t detect that when I was there…

Here is some info on the spotted lantern fly for those not already familiar: https://mda.maryland.gov/plants-pests/Pages/spotted-lantern-fly.aspx
