Eastern Railroad Discussion > Cincinnati WEBN Riverfest Fireworks Dinner Train 2024Date: 09/01/24 20:20 Cincinnati WEBN Riverfest Fireworks Dinner Train 2024 Author: tq-07fan Once again I went out and chased the WEBN Riverfest Fireworks Dinner Train. This year I had to approach things differently as I have to work tomorrow. I came home from work and ate dinner first. By the time I left the house the Dinner Train was already backing their way down the Oasis Sub and contacting the G&W St Albans Dispatcher for the signals for Ridge and Oakley. This still allowed me plenty of time to get my favorite shot of this move from an office building parking lot off of Kennedy Ave.
1) Picture One would be the same as last year if I cropped it. Cincinnati WEBN Riverfest Fireworks Dinner Train 2023 With one good picture everything else is gravy. I wanted to get them going by Rendcomb Junction. Duke Energy replaced all the 69 kv utility poles in this area earlier this year with metal poles. This meant years of undergrowth was cleared away to open up the shot of the west side of Rendcomb tower. 2) Rencomb Junction this is where the original Little Miami from Xenia Ohio met up with the Richmond Branch, all of ending up being part of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The connection to the former LM was removed in the early 1990s resulting in the distant signal for CP Valley. CP Valley was taken out of service and replaced with a hand throw ten years ago. Bright side is there is more traffic here now then ten years ago. 3) I chose Airport Road as my next photo stop. Right when the train got there the Cincinnati Police cruiser pulled up to the crossing and I tried to work it into the shot along with the traveling crossing flagman as best I could. The flagman encouraged me to continue around the detour to get the last crossing that the Dinner Train makes as usually no one ever took pictures there. This year they had made a good run and it was still decent light so I drove into Riverfest traffic a little, something I had never done in my own car to get the last shot.
4) Looking east from St Andrews toward the Pennsylvania Railroad Pendelton Yard, which is now all condos. 5) Looking west towards the Boat House, the former location of Oasis Block Station and the end of the Oasis Sub. Thank You for looking! Jim Date: 09/01/24 20:24 Re: Cincinnati WEBN Riverfest Fireworks Dinner Train 2024 Author: Gonut1 Nice look! Thank you.
