Echoes and Sound from the RBM&N
Author: HomerBedloe

First, I want to again thank everyone that provided suggestions for my wife's and my trip to Pennsylvania a couple of months ago.  At the time, we were debating a South Dakota vs PA trip, and based on the suggestions from this board, we decided on the PA trip.  Got back last week, and the trip was better than we could have hoped for.  Weather was spectacular, the sites were beautiful and the scenic railroads were incredible.  So again, thanks for all the suggestions.

As to the RRs (which I assume will be the main focus of interest here on TO!), I will be posting a few videos (and later, some photos that I have yet to size and process) from our adventures.  This first vid is a little different - in that it is in video format, but contains only photographs.  I have always loved the sounds of the railroad, and reviewing the videos that were shot, realized that the area around Jim Thorpe created wonderful echos along with the sounds of the trains.  So I stripped off some audio and coupled it with some photos that were taken to create this video.  Hope you like it.

A quick summary is in order of what we did on the Reading portion of the trip for some clarity.  On Saturday, we rode from Reading to JT (and return) in the Budd Cars where I spent most of the day taking straight photos.  This included taking the Lehigh Gorge Scenic excursion - this gave us a sense of the RBMN and LGSR operations.  On Sunday, we drove to White Haven and took the Pittston train into JT. Most of the video was shot on Sunday, since I had a sense of how the trains arrived and departed along with the operations through the station during the day.

Lastly, there will be other actual videos of RBMN and LGSR trains (some of which you'll recognize after listening to these audio tracks), but I liked this as an "appetizer".  Oh, and BTW, you don't have to size the photos when you incorporate them into a video, so I had that going for me as well!
