BIP Railroad receives $6.9M from FRA

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin announced more than $6 million for the railroad in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

On Thursday, Sen. Manchin announced $29,708,000 from the Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration for two railroad infrastructure projects in W.Va. 

One of those is the Belpre Industrial Parkersburg Railroad. The Belpre Industrial Railroad was awarded $6,912,000 for the BIP Railroad Connectivity Improvements Project. 

This project will complete the final design and construction activities to repair two bridges on the Belpre Industrial Parkersburg BIP Railroad in Ohio and W.Va.

There will be a lot more of these short line CRISI awards announced in the coming week or two, the biggest funding round yet for this grant program.

The northwestern part of the state also received some grants.
Napoleon Defiance & Western Railway receiving $18.57 million from the FRA
Also ND&W will receive $12.17 million from the Ohio Rail Development Commission
Money will be used for track improvements on the Defiance to Napoleon segment.
Northern Ohio & Western also received $6.4 million for track upgrades.
