Eastern Railroad Discussion > PRR Caboose on CSX M433 todayDate: 10/27/24 10:07 PRR Caboose on CSX M433 today Author: md CSX Riverline M433 southbound today just passed the BigTrains webcam at 12:11 PM today and has at the end a very clean and really nice looking PRR caboose # 477863 on it. Any idea where it came from and where its going?

jb p.s. I went to the camera (Bergenfield NJ), rewound the tape to 12:11 on 10/27/24 and watched the s/b train. Caboose has a yellow cupola, tuscan body, porthole windows. Edited 2 time(s). And what was the reason that some of the N5C cars were painted orange? I was told that one of those differences was used to designate a pool caboose.

The yellow cupola, to my knowledge, was indeed for pool service (and, I believe, east/west travel). There was a gray cupola that was also for pool purposes in north/south travel. Focal orange color was the last color change prior to Penn Central creation. I have seen photos of N8's also painted in focal orange. jb |
