Monday Meet, CSX at Moss Run VA on the old C&O

Eastbound coal train C200-15 meets westbound empty hopper train E381-15 at Moss Run, VA on 10/17/24. I believe E381 was a reroute.

For those of us not from the area, how much busier is it these days?  How many new trains are you seeing?

It's almost like 15 years ago...when we ran 10 to 15 trains east and 10 to 15 west...but they are mostly doubled up monsters...

Other locals may be able to confirm, but I believe 2 pairs of manifests, and ethanol and grain extras that would normally go the CRR are how added to the regular c&o traffic. Not Transcon levels, but your odds of seeing a train are much higher than they were. I saw 5 trains through the New River Gorge last Saturday in about 3 hours.

There's still only 12-13 trains a day total now. If they weren't being doubled up it would be a different story and might be close to the old days though.
