CSX Safety Train 10-18-14
Author: CSX2605

October 18, 2014
CSX ran their safety train, X903, down the CE&D sub and I caught it just north of Vincennes, IN going in the siding at Smith for a northbound. Next I caught it in Vincennes at the diamond where the old B&O crosses the old C&EI line. The B&O CPL's were in the process of getting replaced by the Darth Vader signals that year. The interlocker was getting a complete make over so all signals on both lines in the Vincennes area were getting replaced as part of the PTC project.

Hello very cool catch. I noticed in the 1st clip the ditch lights were not on. Also in the 2nd clip the ditch lights only came on after he blew his horn. I noticed that UP out in the Lagrande Oregon area always has the ditch lights on. They don't switch from side to side either. Even if they are not blowing for a crossing. Just curious what the rules for the ditch lights are for different railroads.
Thanks in advance,
Robert in Island City Oregon.

Interesting...The caboose looks like an old Illnois Central caboose

Nice photos, but this unit sure did not last long after the photos were taken. .   Wrecked, retired and scrapped in 2018
