CSX Howard Street Reroutes over NS?
Author: Gonut1

Just now at 9:51 PM what could be a northbound CSX Howard Street Tunnel reroute rolled by my home along the former Reading Mainline. There is not normally anything running "compass east" around this time. What caught my attention was what sounded like CSX horns, very different than the usual NS horns I am accustomed to. What I could make out in the darkness was a manifest freight not stacks or autoracks. This all fits the M.O. anyone get an eyeball on this move? Not much of interest moves by here these days, I sure would like to catch one in daylight, not very likely. Bah!
Thanks,
Gonut

CSX is still working on the new main track on the North side of the yard in Hagerstown. I don’t think it’s even close to being complete. No one that I know on CSX out of Hagerstown has said anything about the reroutes or crews that will have to qualify East of Lurgan. With that said, I don’t think those reroutes are any time soon.

Progress has been made on the new track. With that said, the latest "rumor" if you will is January.

#42 track on the North side of the yard is being rebuilt as a 25 MPH bypass.
