Jacksonville to Chattanooga - Nov 2024
Author: johnusnsd

Just completed a trip up to Chattanooga from JAX and took the back roads to catch some movements - and I was most impressed with the LOSX switcher at Scruggs in Waycross - brand new paint job - switcher was impressive.

1-2.  CSX 5207 - Folkston SB 21Nov2024
3.  CSX 5376 Long Nose Forward - coming into Rice Yard GA

7.  CPR 7000 (EMD-GP40)-ex Progress Rail and FEC (Willacoochee).    CPR is installing a brand new grade crossing across HWY 82 - and installing new track on the north side of the highway (there is currently no existing track for the grade crossing to connect to).   I don't see any industry nearby - so not really sure what they are doing - - hopefully someone in the group might know.
8-9.  NS 4414 - NB - Cordele GA

Is the LOSX switcher in 4, 5, 6 blue and yellow a la CSX?  Hard to tell with the shadows.

I know but out of respect to who told me I will not say specifics. . But there's more traffic coming to the line soon. One of those industry's is already on the north side and will surprise you.

On Cater Parrott going north of US 82 in Willacoochie, it looks like it is extending its line along the route of the Georgia & Florida RR.  Similar efforts have been made on the section of the G&F between Vidalia and Swainsboro.  See https://www.facebook.com/groups/449879508470310/

It's all blue (yeah the lighting in that alley was miserable).    From a distance I thought that it was a CSX switcher.....but evidently (according the Scruggs) they leased that switcher locally in Waycross.

Thanks to all for the update on CPR - - and the construction efforts on the grade crossing were impressive (I should have snapped a photo) -- good to see new track being laid - - though there was literally nothing on the north side of the new grade crossing - so it will be all new track.
