D&DR "Toys for Tots" train

Saturday was the day for Dover & Delaware River’s (DDR) “Toys for Tots” train on the Washington Secondary in NJ. Stops were planned for Hackettstown, Port Murray, Washington, Stewartsville before terminating in Phillipsburg at the former CNJ PU Tower. Motive power would be DDR’s 2006, a “Toys for Tots” boxcar and a DDR caboose bringing up the rear markers with Santa’s help.

Photo 1: Found the train west of Hackettstown and heading towards its second stop in Port Murray on this sunny but blustery cold day.
Photo 2: In Port Murray even the Grinch got into the spirit of the season by helping first responders load the donated gifts into Toys for Tots boxes.
Photo 3: The short consist passes through the BASF Washington Yard.

Photo 4: Approaching the Richline Road in Stewartsville, Santa waves to the photographers gathered there.
Photo 5: The train is almost at its last stop as it crosses Rosenberry Avenue in Phillipsburg around 2 PM.

Arriving at Phillipsburg, NJ, next to site of DL&W freight station ..now gone for many years.
