Eastern Railroad Discussion > Winter Storm: Snow spray off the railDate: 01/06/25 11:41 Winter Storm: Snow spray off the rail Author: CSX2605 Loaded phosphate train came north this morning on the CSX CE&D sub. A few hours without a train allowed the snow/ice to build up on the rail so I focused in on the spray created by the wheel clearing the rail. Last train was I025 but it was still dark so I couldn't record. Also on the train was a tree limb hanging off a hopper. With all the ice just to my south I assume a limb fell as the train was passing one of the many tree tunnels. Maybe it's been riding all the way from Kentucky. I took a screen shot of the limb on the hopper.
I heard chatter this morning about generators at some of the control points around Evansville, IN. Lots of people without power down there. When I started recording the video I didn't think it was focusing in on the train, however, I stayed with it like everything was fine and figured I'll look at it post recording. Turns out it was all in focus and the video was alright. Glad I didn't stop recording. ;) Brian V. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! We are on the north fringe of this mess.
