Always on guard no matter the conditions
Author: CSX2605

I walked out the door to catch the NYC unit on CSX I026 and while waiting I noticed the ice hanging off the crossing signal. Thought it was pretty cool in the light from the factory across the tracks. I guess I was having a reminiscing moment from when these were installed on October 1986 and have been on watch ever since in all kinds of weather. They must be doing a great job because no one has been hit after they went up. Been a few arms replaced but other than that, keep up the good job!

Neat! I like the mechanical bell in your second photo. I have one that was given to me by an ex CR/RDG maintainer. It could use new guts as the contacts are well worn.

The one on the other side was replaced with an electronic bell. I assume this one will be replaced eventually and I hope I can find it in or by my mailbox. ;)
