Eastern Railroad Discussion > Hoar Frost & CSX I025Date: 01/09/25 18:40 Hoar Frost & CSX I025 Author: CSX2605 After the winter storm and finally some clear skies gave us some bitter cold temps this morning. Also was the perfect conditions for Hoar Frost, the type of feathery frost that forms as a result of specific weather conditions. A broken rail up north delayed I025 giving me a chance for a good shot with a train and the frost without all the fog. I drove the Gator down to the end of the lane and flew the drone from there. Very cold conditions to fly in but it handled it like a champ, unlike my fingers. Here is I025 on the CSX CE&D sub just south of Vincennes, IN.
Last photo is a closeup on the trees next to the tracks. Date: 01/09/25 20:06 Re: Hoar Frost & CSX I025 Author: Gonut1 Hoar Frost is a rarity here in the Midatlantic states but it happens. Nice to see but not all that nice to be out in the conditions that form it.
Fortunately you are in a position to make that "Hit and Run" photo opp on a Gator! Too cool (no pun intended)! Mother Nature producing beautiful images. My cameras always seemed to see these opportunities to freeze up the shutter curtains or iris. Nice that the bird could handle it.
