Eastern Railroad Discussion > More Ramblings Around Lake Erie LandDate: 01/29/25 15:29 More Ramblings Around Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 Wednesday January 29, 2025
40 degrees in the afternoon North Central Ohio 1. - 3. Checking things out at Coen Road, a headlight is spotted to the west on the Lake Shore line, but looking across the fields a train is sitting at GC on the Nickel Plate waiting to go over the connector over to Track 2 on the Lake Shore line. Since he is stopped over there, we turn our attention to what is occupying Track 2, and that is 22H the intermodal hot shot with NS 8116 and 8144. On the rear are eight auto racks of Teslas. The track in the foreground of the Nickel Plate train across the field is actually the west-leg connector that diverges off Track 2 up at CP 224 to the west. Edited 1 time(s). So now the 22H has cleared, we go down to the NKP and watch Train 64T, ethanol loads start up at GC. He'll come across Coen Road and take the left turn up to the Lake Shore line. The junction in the photo is where that west-leg connector we saw in image #1 connects to the NKP. A M-of-W gang is up there working, but I can't figure out what they are doing even with my M-of-W experience. Maybe someone out there can tell. Looks like a boom or grapple truck with a big hose feeding into .... something going into the track. Anyway, image #5 shows them coming though the AEI readers and approaching Coen Road crossing.
6. Next up is the 38N, he's coming up the NKP out of Bellevue seen here at Florence, west of GC with NS 7701 and 1232. Like the 64T that preceeded him, he'll take the east-leg connector to the Lake Shore line. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 01/29/25 15:48 Re: More Ramblings Around Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 7. In the consist of 38N is this Tetratech (TETX 001) Rail AI car, an autonomous track assessment system.
8. - 9. Then we are off to Joppa Road between Vermilion and Huron to catch Train 66X with red CP 8918 leading. In the distance in image 8 are the signals at 226 intermediates at Frailey Road and beyond the 228 intermediates at Ceylon. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 01/29/25 15:50 Re: More Ramblings Around Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 Date: 01/29/25 20:41 Re: More Ramblings Around Lake Erie Land Author: MacBeau Some really good ones in that show, thanks for the look.
